Let's face it, our lives are full of noise and distractions. With things like TV, cell phones, and computers constantly at our disposal and vying for our attention, we are often times too "plugged in" to various media outlets and less focused on the most important things in our lives. Now media in and of itself is not a bad thing, in fact it can be very good, but if left undisciplined, too much media can distract us from our relationship with God and our family.
The purpose of Turn Off Your Screen Day is to encourage families to grow closer to God and to each other by stepping away from today's modern distractions: such as TV, cell phones, computers and other electronic devices.
Each family is unique, and therefore Turn Off Your Screen Day will be lived out differently depending on how the family chooses. To help your family grow closer to God and each other, we recommend the following 4 ways to live out the day:

Each family is unique, and therefore Turn Off Your Screen Day will be lived out differently depending on how the family chooses. To help your family grow closer to God and each other, we recommend the following 4 ways to live out the day:
- Pray Together- Spend some time today praying as a family. There are so many ways to pray as a family. Some ideas include: reading the bible together and then having each member of the family share what stood out to them, pray the rosary, have every family member say something they are thankful for, etc.
- Eat Together- Eat at least one meal together today. (If this is something that you usually do, try to eat every meal together as a family.) One way you can make your meals more meaningful is by posing a fun, open-ended question for each family member to answer.
- Serve Together- There is something about serving others less fortunate that can really bring your family closer together. Today, do something to help others. For example, you can visit the elderly in a nursing home, donate food to a local food drive, or pick up trash in your community.
- Play Together- Why play together? Because spending time together playing games allows a family to relax and have fun, all while making memories and being active. There are many ways to put play into your day: tag, kickball, flying kites, riding bikes, board games, or swimming ... the sky's the limit!
